More often than not, the limitation of time you have at home or the medical reason enforces you to place a hard decision on your children education in which they should run their education at home, unlike others. Even though it seems your children’s right of staying in sociable place to play and study with other friends will get lost, the quality of homeschooling is, at times, much better than regular school. In the area of time and place, this educative method serves you more flexibility, which means your children will be humored with unlimited time for staying at home and having fun with friends outside of home, as long as they can manage their time well with the educators.

No matter how many advantages you can take from this method, it also brings a quite inconvenient fact that the education program cannot allow your children to join in regular school like college or university. That is why there is a common worry among homeschooling children in which they might not be able to grab their dreams to carry on their study at highest degree. But luckily, Totaltranscriptsolution.com knows your problem and worry well. Provided the service to help all children to grab their dream on carrying on their study, the site offers you a program of total transcript in which your children can get converted transcript for highest degree in regular school.

With this conversion program, your children do not need to pend their plan of study, as no hard and complicated requirements should be done. As the program is real and legal, your children do not need to give any hard effort including long time for waiting and any unreasonable programs. Design to be as same as transcript grabbed in regular educational institution, the right of children will be no different from others. So, any intimidation, discrimination, and other inconvenience will be placed at your children. Nothing will be as professional and sure as this total transcript solution.

The Anger Solution Workbook http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/the-anger-solution-workbook/ http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/the-anger-solution-workbook/#comments Sun, 06 Nov 2011 23:58:32 +0000 admin http://addcopingskills.com/?p=373

The Anger Solutions Workbook was written and illustrated with the aim of helping children ages 6 to 12 learn about the emotion of anger and how they could manage it appropriately, turning anger from a destructive to a constructive force in their lives. Divided into five major sections (Understanding Anger; Safe Ways to Express Anger; Cognitive Restructuring; Relaxation; Conflict Management), clinical social worker Lisa Schab teaches children specific techniques designed to help them remain calm and to express their anger safely while working through conflict situations. Each section is designed to stimulate self-awareness and teach behavioral/cognitive skills through the use of simple activities, puzzles, and games. The Anger Solutions Workbook will enable children to build confidence in their own abilities to manager their anger safely, and the relaxation techniques provided will assist them to achieve the state of mind necessary to put into practice what they have learned. The Anger Solutions Workbook is a superbly presented, age-appropriate workbook that will prove invaluable for counseling and working with children who exhibit anger management issues.

Have not had a chance to look at this book yet. But, was recommended by a behaviorist who works at a family services clinic. She says that she uses it all the time.
Arrived quickly without problem.

I got three of these books by Liana Lowenstein and I find them very valuable in my therapy work with children and adolescents. I am a beginning therapist so I still rely heavily on resources like this to get the creative juices flowing. The only thing that is missing from this book, but present in the others, is a list in front that tells what the intervention is suitable for, suggested age range and treatment mode (individual, group or family).

As with Lowenstein’s other books, this book is an incredible resource for novice and experienced practitioners alike. A compilation of activities from over 50 practitioners, the book is both well organized and extremely user-friendly. I highly recommend this resource to any mental health professional who works with children, adolescents, and families.

Anyone who wants to help children, teens, and families overcome obstacles will want this book. I can t wait to implement these activities in my practice! —Scott Riviere, MS, LPC, RPT-S, Healing Kidz, Lake Charles, LA

A delightful addition to the world of play therapy techniques! This well-organized volume, with over 50 contributors, offers a wide variety of activities in a quick and easy format for busy clinicians. It will surely become a well-used book for practitioners seeking creative and therapeutically-stimulating interventions for their child and teen clients. Highly recommended! –Athena A. Measuring Health: A Guide to Rating Scales and Questionnaires http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/measuring-health-a-guide-to-rating-scales-and-questionnaires/ http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/measuring-health-a-guide-to-rating-scales-and-questionnaires/#comments Sat, 05 Nov 2011 13:53:58 +0000 admin http://addcopingskills.com/?p=359

In an era of accountability, McDowell and Newell do an excellent job of pulling together instruments to assess patients’ health. Although this volume was primary designed for Occupational and Physical Therapists, it should have a broader audience. It includes over 80 instruments with a summary on how to employ each device with estimates of reliability and validity. They give more than adequate details to enable the professional to make decisions regarding the quality and appropriateness of each single measure. Users of these tools need to comprehend the extreme lengths that it took for McDowell and Newell to accomplish their task. Their work is truly impressive. On pages 47-50, the authors do a particularly good job explaining the difference between ADL and IADL.

In addition, the authors do a particularly good job in providing technical details needed by professionals to make decisions about the need and appropriateness of an instrument to serve the specific needs of a patient. Students who are learning about calibration of psychometric instruments will also find the work beneficial. They will immediately see the practical application of theoretical concepts presented in classroom decisions. I have placed this fine book on closed serve for students to use after my presentation on reliability and validity.

Every university library should adopt a copy this is fine monograph.

Coping with Trauma-Related Dissociation: Skills Training for Patients and Therapists http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/coping-with-trauma-related-dissociation-skills-training-for-patients-and-therapists-2/ http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/coping-with-trauma-related-dissociation-skills-training-for-patients-and-therapists-2/#comments Sat, 05 Nov 2011 07:43:21 +0000 admin http://addcopingskills.com/?p=350

I initially thought “Coping with Trauma-Related Dissociation” would be overly complex and written for psychologists or psychiatrists. In fact it is really written for both patient and doctor or therapist. I was impressed with how caring the authors came across. They truly understand dissociative disorders on all levels. This book covers Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (DDNOS).

While I am no expert on these disorders I know a good book when I read one. I thought the advice in this book and the skills for coping with the disorders were excellent. The advice for people who have many parts or personalities was especially helpful. I liked how the authors suggested creating an inner world or safe place in the mind for scared, angry or fearful parts to go when needed.

Some of the issues dealt with in this book include a sense of involuntariness, becoming emotionally numb, amnesia, depersonalization, derealization, isolation, eating habits, abuse, insomnia, losing track of time, loneliness, self-harm, anger, shame, phobias of inner experience, relaxation exercises, numerous personalities at war with each other and guilt. There are also sections that teach you how to deal with stressful family situations or work situations.

The sections on homework assignments take the process of dealing with the disorders to new levels. One assignment deals with healthy core beliefs and analyzes negative and positive beliefs.

What this book really explained well is how parts of the self are stuck in what the authors call “trauma-time.” They discuss triggers that can lead you to feeling bad. Like if you feel anxious over going to a doctor’s appointment there is advice on how to get in and out of the doctor’s office more easily by going at a time when there are less patients waiting, say like immediately after lunch.

I’d recommend this to anyone with a dissociative disorder or to doctors, therapists, psychologists, nurses and psychiatrists who deal with these disorders.

It’s one of the newest sources out there that I have found and it’s quite easy to read. Don’t let the 400 plus pages scare you away. A good deal of the book is workbook oriented – making it a great mix of reading and work sheets. It is packed with so much self-help information and work for you to do! All the other books I have found on the subject have been lacking something or are very difficult or old, but this one has it all! It starts with explaining the Dissociative parts of the personality and the Inner World of the Dissociative Individual and how to overcome fears and issues you have with listening to and dealing with your Inner Experience. It explains why reflection and being present is so important and how to work on those. You learn to replace bad behavior such as eating disorders, drugs and drinking with healthy behaviors. You learn to work with your dissociative parts and to listen and communicate with them. It also covers things like safety, triggers, memories, emotions and cognitions, coping skills and improving your relationships. There is even script for you to record and listen to that helps you and your system relax and a section on taking care of yourself physically which includes diet and exercise and getting your alters to help instead of fight against you in this process and how to get them to let you sleep at night.

Three therapists with many years of experience, worked together to create this impressive guide. I think therapists and those who have DID/DD-NOS will find it an invaluable book. There is a section for ‘trainers’ as well to help with group sessions. I borrowed the book to my therapist and she enjoyed it so much she ordered her own copy.

Social Skills Activities for Special Children http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/social-skills-activities-for-special-children/ http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/social-skills-activities-for-special-children/#comments Wed, 02 Nov 2011 13:01:00 +0000 admin http://addcopingskills.com/?p=341

Does your child come home from grade school complaining about other children? Is he or she having a tough time at recess? Do you get notes home from the teacher saying your child is daydreaming during instructions, or not behaving appropriately in the cafeteria– even though your child has no special behavioral or cognitive problems? This might be the book for you.

This book is useful for almost any elementary aged child, and especially for the many that need to heighten their social skills. Depending on the child, some lessons will be more beneficial than others. For example, both my children enjoyed the unit on relating to peers. All kids grapple with “sharing friends”, being a fair friend, listening to others, etc. Other units deal with respect for authority, procrastination, listening to instructions, etc. The subjects of this book are not commonly “taught” at school, and are also often overlooked at home, because everyone is so busy trying to play soccer and the violin and chess and do homework and gymnastics. Yet mastering the skills taught in this book will determine much of the success your child experiences throughout school, and probably life. Although we like to think our kids will learn the lessons in this book by following our good examples, or perhaps just by osmosis, fact is, most 2nd-4th graders could use a little review on the niceties of human interaction.

The book is really a workbook with instructions for the teacher, followed by a workpage for the child. I presume it was designed for school social workers to use with kids of various abilities. My children, who seem perfectly normal, like doing the worksheets, and especially enjoy the funny illustrations of children exhibiting inappropriate behavior. A little humor never hurt when delivering a message to an eight year old, eh?

Ready-to-Use Social Skills Lessons & Activities for Grades 7-12 http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/ready-to-use-social-skills-lessons-activities-for-grades-7-12/ http://addcopingskills.com/2011/11/ready-to-use-social-skills-lessons-activities-for-grades-7-12/#comments Wed, 02 Nov 2011 12:42:22 +0000 admin http://addcopingskills.com/?p=338

This book is a series of lessons that teach different social skills. Although it’s set up for a classroom setting, I’ve been doing them with my 8 year old son. I have been very pleased with the change I’ve seen in his behavior from doing these lessons at home. The book is very easy for follow for a non-educator such as myself and most importantly, it’s effective!

This is very user friendly and is set out in lessons with the objective listed, the need for the lesson, introduction, skill components, rehearsal of behavior or skill and then practice and continuation of skill. It has reproducable worksheets for most lessons. I am the parent of an autistic child. I have a legal background not an education teaching degree but this is layed out so it will be very easy to implement. It would also be a great assest for any classroom to promote classroom unity and awareness of others. This would also be helpful for Sunday school classes where the teachers are often local volunteers. I may go back and get the grade K-3 book as well.
This book is a great resource for teachers, administrators, and parents! It offers activities that strengthen teenagers social skills with concentration in communication, responsibility, respect, and many others. The students I used it with thought that the activities were “fun” and worked when they needed the skills the most. I would recommend this book to all who work with teenagers.

A Return to Abundance, Book 2: Earning and spending money, self esteem, abundance and prosperity, coping skills and strategies: a money management self-help book for abundant life in troubled times http://addcopingskills.com/2011/10/a-return-to-abundance-book-2-earning-and-spending-money-self-esteem-abundance-and-prosperity-coping-skills-and-strategies-a-money-management-self-help-book-for-abundant-life-in-troubled-times/ http://addcopingskills.com/2011/10/a-return-to-abundance-book-2-earning-and-spending-money-self-esteem-abundance-and-prosperity-coping-skills-and-strategies-a-money-management-self-help-book-for-abundant-life-in-troubled-times/#comments Thu, 27 Oct 2011 12:51:08 +0000 admin http://addcopingskills.com/?p=334

After reading the three volumes of A RETURN TO ABUNDANCE, I now have meaningful and enjoyable conversations about money and finance with my teenage children. Other financial books I’ve read didn’t jumpstart money conversations with friends and family. Here are three reasons I think A RETURN TO ABUNDANCE succeeds.

1. Money unconsidered is an unconscious demon, we react out of our long-standing patterns, rather than acting based on conscious choices. Author Paul Gubany’s brilliant use of everything from the history of money, to psychology, to Greek Mythology helps uncover a person’s individual money patterns. (Volume One and Two) Once you know the patterns, you have choices – and life patterns are always fun to talk about.

2. If you don’t decide what’s ENOUGH, you’ll never have ENOUGH. Gubany helps us figure out what our own Abundance is, and he shows us the satisfaction and simplicity of living with a personal definition of Abundance. (Volume Two) If you don’t know what’s ENOUGH, you’ll never ever have enough money. Gubany’s process gave me a sense of peace and well-being about money that I’ve never felt before – I’m freer now from the money demon than I was before I read A RETURN TO ABUNDANCE, freer than anytime I can remember!

3. A RETURN TO ABUNDANCE, along with its engaging presentations about the nature of money and the human psyche, also includes the technical aspects of understanding the time value of money. (Volume Three) No problem for my kids to understand this third volume of A RETURN TO ABUNDANCE, and, barring the collapse of our world order, they see how they can realistically and easily accumulate a millionaire retirement during their working years. These are nice conversations to have during dinner.

My advice – stop reading the reviews – start reading A RETURN TO ABUNDANCE. I wish Paul Gubany a wide readership, his book is a work of love, a work of art, a benefit to anyone who will open its covers.

Coping Skills Therapy for Managing Chronic and Terminal Illness http://addcopingskills.com/2011/10/coping-skills-therapy-for-managing-chronic-and-terminal-illness/ http://addcopingskills.com/2011/10/coping-skills-therapy-for-managing-chronic-and-terminal-illness/#comments Wed, 26 Oct 2011 12:48:47 +0000 admin http://addcopingskills.com/?p=322

Something fun to read and know the contents of this book rests on the basic premise that people feel good about themselves, work well in the world, and have fewer interpersonal and intrapersonal issues when they know how to cope. Read the first page Key Phrases – The phrase statistically impossible (SIP): (learn more)

More Creative Interventions for Troubled Children and Youth http://addcopingskills.com/2011/10/more-creative-interventions-for-troubled-children-and-youth/ http://addcopingskills.com/2011/10/more-creative-interventions-for-troubled-children-and-youth/#comments Mon, 24 Oct 2011 06:36:55 +0000 admin http://addcopingskills.com/?p=317

This book is an excellent reference and is perfect for anyone who works with at-risk children and adolescents. As a child therapist, I found that the activities help to engage even children are very reluctant to engage in therapy. There are various kinds of activities in this book who ranged in age from preschool to adolescence and addresses almost all the maintenance problems that you can think of. Most importantly, fun activities for children while also being therapeutic. I would highly recommend this book – it’s worth every penny.

This is a book that a therapist can be used immediately. It is extemely well organized:
chapters are divided by topic
-graph which shows the activity for each stage of therapy, modalities and age
-clear directions included with each activity

Many pages are reproduced, and most of the activities require materials that are easy to find. Best of all, the activities of a clear treatment!

My only complaint (and it’s small so I did not delete any star) is that some activities involve candy. Because I work with elementary school students in districts that have implemented the federal nutrition guidelines, I can not give students candy I can not give food as gifts. Some of these activities can be “tweaked” so I give stickers instead. However, it is a very small point, and overall, this book is a wonderful resource!

Do not miss the Paper Dolls and Paper Airplanes, a similar book co-authored by Lowenstein, which contains extensive activities to pre-school, elementary school children and adolescents who have experienced sexual harassment.
